Felix Loftus - The Photographers’ Gallery Resident 2026

In partnership with The Photographers’ Gallery we hosted a residency for artist and creative technologist Felix Loftus. Over two months, Felix looked into the histories of industrialisation, making, and technological resistance local to the area, while prototyping creative methods for re-using smart-phones using a permacomputing approach.

Waste as Resource was the first residency organised between The Photographers’ Gallery and The Ampersand Foundation at Wigwell Lodge for artists working with expanded photography and digital practices.

Robert Zhao Renhui - Ampersand x Ikon Resident 2025

In partnership with the Ikon Gallery, a renowned arts centre in Birmingham founded in 1964, we hosted a residency for Singaporean artist Robert Renhui Zhao. A multidisciplinary artist whose work examines the relationship between humans and nature, This video follows Zhao to uncover his research at Wigwell Lodge.

Looking Forward Project - Graves Gallery, Sheffield (2021 - 2025)

In 2021 we started Looking Forward, a 5-year funding partnership with the Graves Gallery in Sheffield. The funding aimed to bring the gallery up to date and raise the profile of Sheffield's art collection by improving display spaces, doing conservation work, introducing new curatorial approaches, and expanding audiences with new outreach educational programmes. We talked to Kirstie Hamilton, Director of Programmes for Sheffield Museums, about what has been happening in the last four years.
